The project involved an assemblage of three different property owners, an intensive approvals process which included over 30 public meetings and five County Board hearings, and the successful implementation of a $2 million relocation program for the former residents of the site. The plan features a new urbanist concept, with a variety of uses and housing types centered on a half-acre village green. A comprehensive affordable housing program was provided as part of the approvals process, including both scattered affordable units within the market-rate development and a dedicated affordable housing component. The redevelopment of this prominent gateway site sparked a transformation of South Arlington, providing the catalyst for a number of additional revitalization projects in the surrounding area.
