PROGRAM: 15,000 square foot retail center CAPITAL COST: $5 Million CONSTRUCTED: 2005 POTOMAC PLAZA LOCATION: Alexandria, Virginia DEVELOPER: EYA (In Partnership With Elm Street Development) SUMMARY Potomac Plaza was developed in conjunction with Potomac Greens, a 227-unit townhome community located to the north of the Potomac Plaza site in Old Town Alexandria. The retail center was conceived as an amenity to the much larger residential project of which it is a part. The goal was to create a strong sense of place by finding the right mix of regional, local and one-of-a-kind retail tenants to help increase the desirability and character of the neighborhood. The tenant mix includes Rustico, a Mediterranean grill owned by the team who also own the award winning Evening Star Café in nearby Del Ray; Buzz, a specialty coffee shop, bar and bakery; Periwinkle, a one-of-a-kind women's clothing boutique; a day spa; and several other convenience users.
