SUMMARY
This project involves the renovation of the historic 32-acre campus of the National Park Seminary in Forest Glen. EYA is constructing 90 new homes on the grounds of the campus of this former boarding school for girls, and Alexander Company is renovating most of the existing structures. The entire site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The property was owned by the federal government for many years prior to being transferred to Montgomery County in 2004. The County selected the EYA/ACI team through a public RFP process. The project presented the unique challenge of designing new homes in three distinct architectural styles to complement the existing context, with all the design work subject to review by county, state and federal historic preservation agencies. |
